No Leads In Yesterday's Daylight Double Murder
posted (July 18, 2002)
No one has been detained for yesterday's double murder of 34 year old mechanic Randolph Tulcey and 38 year old Taxi-man Patrick Burns. Yesterday afternoon the pair were gunned down by at least four men in the upper story of a home at the corner of Cedar and Logwood streets in the Lake Independence area. So far, investigators believe that the double murder was planned as part of the on-going gang warfare in the city. Tulcey, it is believed, had connections to Arthur Young of the West Street Bloods. Police believe that Young's affiliates like Hugh "Angel" Thomas were targeted by rival sets after the murder of Sherman "Hatcha" Flowers. Young was taken into police custody today, but it is not clear if that was done for his own protection or for questioning. The distinction is important because after "Angel" Thomas was murdered there was reportedly a hit out on Young, and responding pro-actively, police took him into protective custody.
