ADO Coming Back
posted (April 12, 2023)
Tonight, Cabinet has announced the decision to reintroduce both the services of Mexico's ADO and Guatemala's Fuente Del Norte to the Belizean market.

The move is meant to improve Belize's connectivity to the region by allowing these premier services to ferry both Belizean and international visitors across Belize's border points.

ADO will be providing services from Belize City to Merida and Cancun starting on the proposed date of May 1st, 2023. Fuente Del Norte will be providing services from Belize City to Flores and Guatemala City starting on the proposed date of April 21st, 2023.

Still, the Ministry had to keep bus operators at home happy and so they've pledged to safeguard those businesses by laying down strict conditions for foreign bus companies.

These include The Mandatory obtaining and full payment of a Road service permit to operate in Belize, The mandatory keeping of manifests of passengers on foreign buses, the prohibition of transport for local commuters on board foreign buses and an allowance only for ticketed Belizean passengers travelling to Mexico or Guatemala.

And, with these measures firmly in place the ADO bus company has been given permission to commence services at the Belize City Bus terminal while Fuente Del Norte has been given designated stops in San Ignacio and Belize City outside terminal spaces.
