Cop Charged For Extortion
posted (April 20, 2023)
An Orange Walk cop has been charged for extortion after allegedly shaking down the grandmother of a minor who was involved in a traffic accident. He allegedly asked for two hundred dollars for the charge to disappear from the system.

The allegation emerged in June of last year, and 10 months later, Corporal Miguel Alpuche - seen here as the hispanic male in the black shirt - was marched to court this morning.

We understand that the directive from the DPP's office to charge him was sent from September of last year, but it was not until yesterday that the police senior command gave the go ahead for Alpuche to be arrested and charged.

Today Alpuche was escorted to the Orange Walk magistrate's court where he was charged for extortion. He pleaded not guilty and bail was offered to him in the sum of three thousand dollars. He is due back in court on August 17th, 2022.
