Jemmott's Sister Tells CJ Jasmin Is Ducking Out On Community Service
posted (May 7, 2024)
It's been almost a year since Jasmine Hartin was found guilty of manslaughter and fined $75,000 for killing Superintendent Henry Jemmott. She was also ordered to do 300 hours of community service. However, Jemmot's sister, Marie Jemmott, has written to the Chief Justice, informing her that Hartin has not worked a single hour of community service. In the letter, she says, quote, "The Jemmott Family is deeply, deeply hurt and disturbed that the criminal justice system could so fail and dishonor the memory of one of its own law enforcement officers by allowing Ms Hartin to simply ignore that part of her court sentence." End quote.

Jemmott's sister then appeals to the CJ, asking her to address what they refer to as a "gross injustice and a failing of the system."

We reached out to Hartin, who declined comment until she could seek advice from her lawyer. But what we do know is that Hartin was ordered to work community service at the YMCA, but they were never consulted by the court, and they had no idea about the case or the sentence. So while Hartin has tried to do her hours, she hasn't been able to.
