And even after Thursday's life threatening events, airport security at Maya island air found themselves defusing another situation on the tarmac, only this time the plane wasn't in the air. And it reportedly happened on the same day!
But this one was not a hijacking, it was an interpersonal dispute:

"This matter was addressed by the police swiftly. The person in question was detained by the police, the pilot gave a statement and the management of Maya also intervened and they decided they did not want to pursue the matter any further . The passenger was banned from the airline. He had to catch another flight out of San Pedro or on boat and considering that the pilot who was assaulted did not want to pursue the matter any further, the person was spoken to with his attorney and he was released from custody."
