And now for Williams, his work as CEO begins on Friday. And he is ready to hit the road running, especially when it comes to the state of public transportation in the country. He explained what his priorities will be when he takes office.
Chester Williams, Outgoing Compol
"The Ministry of Constitutional, Indigenous Affairs and Transport is a ministry with a lot of responsibilities. We all know that traffic is a problem in this country. We saw the amount of fatalities on our highways last year and certainly it is the mandate of this government to make sure that we don't have a repeat of last year."
"And so moving over with Dr. Zab at that ministry, it's certainly something I welcome, I look forward to doing what we can to address the plague that confronts commuters. I traverse this country from Punta Gorda to Corozal, from Belize to Benque and on many occasions I see the type of buses on our highways that our commuters have to bear the pain to ride in the morning to go to work and in the evening to go home. Many times we see these buses broke down on the side of the road. Commuters standing outside waiting for transport to get them to work or get them back home. These are things that need to stop. Your pay for a service, it is expected that you'll get good service. And so myself and Dr. Zab we are committed to making sure that the commuters of this country get the service that they're paying for when it comes to riding buses on our highways going to work or back home. And so I am extremely excited for my new venture."
"I have assured the Prime Minister that I will do my utmost best. I will commit myself the same way I did for police in making sure that the objectives of the government is achieved in the new ministry I'm going to."

"When does that new rule officially start?"
Chester Williams, Outgoing Compol
