And in other news, Belize's first ever AI Digital Summit was held today, bringing together leading stakeholders in Artificial Intelligence and starting the conversation here in Belize. As the first of its kind, this summit is geared towards providing guidance for businesses and sectors here in Belize on how to utilize AI to their advantage. The Managing Director of Avant Garde told us more.
Maynor Larrieu, Managing Director, Avant Garde
"AI is a very vast field so we wanted to bring this event to Belize basically to educate and provide guidance in AI. AI is evolving so very rapidly in every single industry and I think it's the opportune time to have an AI summit so that we can learn together."
"One of the highlights is, personally I've been to several conferences and one of the things that we see whenever I go to a conference is there isn't enough hands-on time so one of the things that we've done is the morning sessions are all presentations and the afternoon sessions are more workshops, hands-on with some of our experts in different areas so that will allow our participants to not only sit and learn but also do because most times when you come to presentations you get home and you're like, how do you do this again? And it's very challenging to get going so if we could get that first step off the way, I think it will make all the participants a lot more comfortable when they're home."
"This morning we had a keynote presentation by CEO Jose Urbina and he and I both agreed that AI can benefit every single industry, some more than others but I think if everyone can adapt AI in their day to day, including you guys in the media, we will become more efficient, we'll be able to optimize our time, look at other areas of our businesses that we can make better."
Eduardo Munera, CEO, Deliverance Enterprises
"I think there is multiple applications, we can see from domestic use to hospitality to factories, there is multiple possibilities for robotics and AI to improve the way that we operate and that's why we want to bring it to every single country and here in Belize, it's a great opportunity with such an amazing hospitality industry to see how robots can help to improve guest experiences and at the same time become more sustainable."
"Our presentation is about how can medium and small businesses implement a real operative solution that is based on automation and robotics and they serve a function without disrupting the way that they operate because we want to keep the human touch, hospitality is about human so how to properly integrate it."
The event was held at the new Grand Resort Hotel next to the Haulover bridge - which is not officially opened yet.
