He was a long time driver for the Family Court - but this morning Raymond Belgrave died in a traffic accident. The 53 year old was driving to Orange Walk when he ran off the highway and crashed. It happened at 11:30 between miles 51 and 52 when he veered off the highway, and barreled down the embankment where the vehicle vaulted over the fence for Caribbean motors. That's when one of the aluminum fence posts pierced the driver's side of the vehicle, injuring Belgrave in the throat. The vehicle then landed on its four wheels and continued to roll with a deceased Belgrave in the drivers seat.
Burgess is from East Canal here in the city and his family told us today that they were too shocked and saddened to speak.
