DPM Says Tracy Supports Teachers Now But Not When She Was In Cabinet
posted (May 27, 2025)
Before Fonseca, the DPM Cordel Hyde called her out for allowing the Barrow Administration to mismanage monies while she was a member of the Cabinet. He added that while she stated her support for the teachers, when she was on the government's side, they stood against their request for a salary increase.

Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister
"She was there every step of the way, she was around the table every step of the way. She stamped, affirmed all those decision. She was there to watch scandal after scandal and she said nothing. She was there as the last government squandered $500 million of Petrocaribe while people's standard of living deteriorated year after year and she said nothing. And she was there as the last government squandered $600 million of oil taxes and she said nothing. But all of a sudden she can see and she can hear and she can speak. I don't know which budget the Leader of the Opposition was looking at, I really don't know. Ultimately if you look at this budget, the Ministry of Health and Wellness will get a record budget in this year's budget. The Ministry of Science and Technology will get a record budget in this year's budget. The Ministry of Human Development will get a record budget in this year's budget. Not to mention the Ministry of Youth and Sports. We are putting our money where our mouths are. Not surprisingly, the member for Albert is in full support of the teacher's request for 8.5% and two frozen increments. But I need remind her that back in 2016 when the teachers were asking for a mere 3%, she was not in support."
