Department Of Transport Cracking Down On Motorcycle Nuisances
posted (May 27, 2025)
Motorcycles - they may be an affordable mode of transport for many shuttling to and from work - but as we've shown you on this newscast many times, they can be menaces on the roadways and a noise nuisance in town and city limits.

That's why the Department of Transport has launched a national enforcement campaign targeting the improper use of motorcycles across Belize. This comes after growing concerns about excessive motorcycle noise, especially in residential areas, and the increasing disregard for safety regulations, including failure to wear helmets and carrying excess passengers.

With the Police Department and Municipal Traffic Authorities, the DOT will conduct nationwide inspections to ensure motorcycles meet legal standards for roadworthiness, noise control, and rider safety. Offending motorcycles will be impounded, and violators will face legal penalties.

The public is also encouraged to report violations by contacting the Ministry's hotline at 613-3104.
