The National Assembly is hosting a 3-day post-election seminar, with support from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. In this seminar, Belize's parliamentarians will receive updated training on how to best fulfill their duties. The Minister of Public Service & Governance, Henry Charles Usher, spoke more about it.
Henry Charles Usher, Ministry of Public Service, Governance "This particular one to me is very important in terms of being able to properly represent our constituents, do the work and of course be familiar with your standing orders."
"I think it's a combination of what you say in terms of being able to properly fulfill your role either as an area representative or as an appointed member of the Senate, your role as a member of a particular political party, your role as a minister representing different portfolios, of course number 1, for an elected representative, your role in terms of representing people of the constituency that you're elected to represent. Those are all challenges that we have to look at as parliamentarians and we have to be able to do our best every single day. The job as a parliamentarian in my opinion is to make the lives of the people we represent better and so being able to do that better is always a good thing."
