Another name that was in the headlines last night was Jorge Rodriguez. He's the former Bella Vista Branch Manager of the Toledo Teachers Credit Union who has now been hired at the Ministry of Economic Transformation as the Financial Administrator within the Global Fund Implementation Unit.
The coincidence of his being at the Ministry where Osmond Martinez is Minister of State did raise some eyebrows - but this morning in a lengthy release the the Ministry says there is no connection.
A release says that the post was publicly advertised in November of lats year and that four candidates were shortlisted and invited to the interview stage.
They faced a full interview panel including senior government officials and an entrant consultant. Applicants also had to take a standardized evaluation report and Rodriguez merged as the the candidate with the highest overall score on technical skills and experience,
He started the job on January first and the release says, quote, "Importantly, at no point was the current Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Dr. the Hon. Osmond Martinez, involved in any part of this recruitment process; he was, in fact, serving as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Trade at the time, up until March 12, 2025."
A release says the Global Fund believes, quote, "in a process that is fair, impartial, and fully compliant with national and international standards." end quote.
