Chinese Nationals Didn't Run with $150,000
posted (August 27, 2008)

Three days after being sought by police in connection to a large amount of missing money the three Chinese nationals Kan Shi Kun, Li Ting and Liang Jun are all free today and will not face any criminal charges.

Shi Kun, Ting and Jun who all work for the North American Company in the Corozal Free Zone were wanted by authorities after it was reported that they stole forty thousand U.S. dollars, three hundred thousand pesos and fifteen thousand Belize dollars from inside a safe at their workplace, which is Yabra Plaza in the Free Zone.

A store manager Zhung Jun who was hired by the business owner Kevin Sing is the one who alerted the police. They immediately released the pictures of all three employees. The trio who were in the process of buying plane tickets to go back home were still in Corozal Town when they saw themselves on 7NEWS on Monday night and then turned themselves in to the police station.

7NEWS understands that Shi Kun, Ting and Jun told police that they had informed the store manager that they would be taking ten thousand U.S. dollars to fly back home. They were leaving the country because they told authorities that the business owner Kevin Sing who departed Belize over a year ago had promised to make deposits into their family’s accounts back home but that they received word that no funds had yet been received.

Today the officer in charge of Corozal Police Station Miguel Guzman told 7NEWS that the three were freed from any criminal charges because the store manage Zhung Jun told them that he was instructed by the business owner Kevin Singh to not press any charges against the three employees. Why? Well all information to the police suggests that indeed there was a financial arrangement made between the business owner and the employees.

Just what arrangements were made it is not known. Furthermore police told 7NEWS that the money is no longer missing. According to authorities the business owner Kevin Singh has also informed his store manager Zhung Jun that the money was sent to China.
