Custom Officers Wine and Dine Deserving Children
posted (December 10, 2008)

And 76 deserving children had a right to party today. They were the guests of honor at a Christmas party this afternoon at the Customs Building. There were 5 students each from 15 primary schools in the city and they received star treatment from the Customs staff who served them lunch and sent them home with gift certificates. Collector of Customs Estell Leslie says it is their way of giving back.

Estelle Leslie, Collector of Customs Responsible for Training and Modernization
“Customs has always donated to worthy cause but the public doesn’t know about this. So this with the Christmas season and all the giving and all the love around Christmas, the Comptroller decided that all the Customs family should come together and give love to deserving children.

We got in touch with all the different schools and they knew that we wanted children that were deserving of a gift and the whole joy of Christmas so they chose the different children. We have 76 children from 15 primary schools throughout Belize City and we will be entertaining them with Ozzie the Clown, we will be having a luncheon for them and we will giving them gifts along with a gift certificate so that they can buy clothing and footwear.

It is a good feeling because Christmas is all about kids and we love to make the children happy so it is a good feeling to see them smiling and happy to get their gifts.”

The party was funded with donations from staff, the business community, and the Customs Brokers Association.
