Earlier one we told you that the price of gas is going up – but the price
of rice is going down. As of Tuesday – the controlled retail price for
a pound of milled white rice will be $1.20. That is 11 cents cheaper than the
current shelf price of $1.31. The wholesale price of milled white rice will
now be $112 in Belize City. The prices are controlled – meaning that it
is the maximum price it can be sold for. Ask of tomorrow – any store or
shop selling rice for more than $1.20 will be breaking the law.
