Aaron Casanova Survives Six Bullets
posted (June 10, 2009)

34 year old Aaron Cassanova is lucky to be alive tonight after was shot six times last night. Cassanova was in front of Tow Tow Grocery on Mahogany Street around 8:30 when a gunman opened fire on him. He got two shots to the front and another three in the back. One of his lungs has collapsed and he has already undergone one surgery. But Casanova – who is a self-professed former bad man – who has served time in jail for robbery - was upbeat when we spoke to him today at the KHMH. He says the gunman came out of nowhere and he can think of no reason why he was shot.

Aaron Casanova, Shooting Victim
“I went into this yard and when I pulled out of the yard, I was riding up the street and a man just pulled behind me and asked me where I am from. He just pulled out his gun and started to shoot me up. I received about six shots. First time I saw him but I already knew the plot to shot me. They can’t say it is mistake or nothing. I know they wanted to shot me.”

Keith Swift,
Where were you hit?

Aaron Casanova,
“Three times in back, two times in my hand, and one time in my guts.”

Keith Swift,
What has the doctor told you?

Aaron Casanova,
“The doctor tell me I revive too. Only my lungs is kind of shaky but they are working on that same way.

Once I used to be notorious around Belize but I am not into that. Many years ago in the nineties I used to bust afta man and those things but I am not into that gang bang world. I went to jail so many times and I learnt. It doesn’t make any sense to be a mad person out here because sooner or later it would be either jail or dead house.”

Keith Swift,
So you have no intention of retaliating?

Aaron Casanova,
“I don’t have no intention to retaliate you know.”

Martha Noralez, Mother of Shooting Victim
“My son was not doing something out of the way at that time he got shot. Regardless, he forgot all about things and he wants to change his life. When I heard the news in Dangriga I thought that it was something he did but when I came here this morning he explained to me what happened. And then I want to send news to the government because these boys today are shooting people for nothing and to me, I would want the government to enforce the law.”

Police have made no arrests.
