Oscar Pollard Acquitted of Threatening Edmund Castro
posted (September 18, 2009)

Lucky Strike Village Chairman Oscar Pollard and Belize Rural North Area Representative Edmund Castro are not friends, in fact you could say they are enemies. And that‘s why Castro took it very seriously when he claims Pollard pointed a 16 gauge shotgun at him and his driver in December of last year.

41 year old Pollard was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm on Castro and his driver Norman Middleton. But today in court, Pollard was declared not guilty of the assault and not guilty of using threatening words. Magistrate Tracy Sosa who made the ruling said she was not satisfied that the prosecution proved its case against Pollard beyond a reasonable doubt.

For background we note that Castro and Pollard had a running dispute as Pollard was the contractor for a community center and Castro maintained that his work was substandard. The two are also fierce political opponents.
