Midnight Murder of Deon Marvin Meighan
posted (September 22, 2009)

And the city almost made it through the Independence Day weekend without a murder, but there was a killing at midnight last night. It happened in Cinderella Plaza where 30 year old Deon Marvin Meighan was shot in the head. Meighan was walking back to his home to Mex Avenue after leaving a nightclub on Princess Margaret Drive. He was along with two other men and one female when a man strode up to them with a shirt over his head. He fired three shots at Meighan and one caught him above the eye. He died on the spot and today his sister Shana Meighan told us she doesn’t know why anyone would want to kill him.

Shana Meighan, Sister of Murder Victim
“He was a loving humbly person and it is very hard. He was working at CYDP and he didn’t trouble anyone. He was from work to home and so I find it surprising that someone would want to take his life and it hurts.”

Jules Vasquez,
“Had he indicated any sense of worry or concern about his safety?”

Shana Meighan,
“No because he didn’t trouble anyone. As I said he was from work to home so everyone finds it surprising and it took me as a shock. I honestly can’t believe it. I don’t know who would want to take his life. It is puzzling.”

Meighan was employed by the CYDP on a housing project in the Saint Martin’s Area. Police say they have detained two persons for questioning.
