But two days after John Briceno formally welcomed Said Musa back into
the PUP he was not at the launch. Why? Well, observers suggest that Briceno
can feel Mr. Musa’s shadow on his shoulder and after accommodating him
in the executive – a move that was a unpopular with even Briceno supporters,
the Opposition leader didn’t want to seem to be a part of Mr. Musa’s
fan club. But that’s what well informed PUP insiders say – here’s
what Briceno himself said.

“Well it is important to point out that this was in planned before
we got an invitation to go to his book launching so we already had this in plan.
And secondly it is very important for us to be here to support Mr. Good on the
59th anniversary of the PUP right here at Battlefield Park.”
Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
“Well the leader assured me that he wanted to be here but he was doing
other political work this morning. I believe they were out there showing solidarity
with Mr. Charlie Good and his wife in particular.”
As Musa sat down with the press around 11:30 – one and a half
hours after the event started – he told us laughingly that quote, “maybe
he’ll still come...” He didn’t.
