7 News Belize

Destination Belize is the name of a well known tourist magazine published annually by the Belize Tourism Industry Association but now an all star trio of rappers have taken on that title as the brand name for their new supergroup. They will release their 13 track album at the end of this month and pushed out the music video for the first single, "Destination Belize" this week.

"This is a project whereby, I mean many times you have people who always speak negatively about Belize in media. I guess we each have our own prospective but my part about it that Belize is a very beautiful place and we have artists who have good music; we have good producers, and we have good talent and so this is our way to give back to the community and show people internationally, because this is not only for Belize this will go to Europe; we will send them to the Caribbean; we will send this to USA; to get it to Africa, It is going to Africa."

"Personally I'm tired of seeing videos with Zinc fence and old house I want to see some video with our seas and our cayes and the beautiful things that those people outside would want to see, you understand?"

Orson Picart (Artist and Producer)
"Now people would normally say, you know the project would normally be dance hall and hip hop, but it is not really just that. We have alternative, we have techno, we have hip hop we have dance hall and we have lots of positive tracks on it."

"Usually you see one person trying to do their project and struggling. What we did on this project is something which I don't see a lot of. We had to put away lots of ego, lots of pride to come together to do this project. But the big thing is that we came together to do this project between three of our companies."

Berne Velasquez (Artist and Producer)
"And Jules you know us uniting is like one of the hardest things that I ever did because really I don't really like these guys, man. And you know like shooting the video these guys want to steal my shine and they are trying to be the sexy guy in the video. I was like, whoa, this is not going to work. But all together in the end we are Belizean, we are brothers, we are working together for one goal to make it happen, destination Belize"

'Belizean youths open unu eye, for 2010 we nuh wa stop try fi think positive and try to aim high, head above the clouds, am walking on the sky. Them call we crab in a bocket, mi know that da lie, them say we live like animal even that me deny, nuff blood even eye water me cry, when the wicked live and the righteous die."
