Belizeans Feared Dead in Mexico
posted (May 6, 2010)
There are grave concerns tonight for at least two and possibly three Belizeans who are reported to have been killed somewhere in Mexico this morning. The names are Aricia and Kirk Mariano, a husband and wife Belize City residents both in their early thirties who were reportedly killed in southeastern Mexico in an armed robbery this morning.

According to our sources, they went to the USA last week Wednesday and were reportedly driving down a vehicle from Texas. They were expected back in Belize City tomorrow.

Wilfred Burgess known as Nancy was also reportedly accompanying them back to Belize and the worse is also feared for his wellbeing.

Best reports from relatives say that somewhere between Brownsville Texas and Quintana Roo, Mexico, the trio were held by armed robbers and reportedly killed.

We stress that the reports are very sketchy at this time and we stress there is absolutely no official confirmation of any deaths. In fact, the public relations officer of the Mexican Embassy in Belize says that he has contacted federal, local government, and city council authorities – and they have no reports of Belizeans being killed.

And because of this uncertainty, family members of the Mariano's are heading to Mexico to verify the reports that they got initially through a phone call from another Belizean car dealer who is in Mexico. So again, we stress those are reports, which have been communicated to the family, but at this time, there is no confirmation.
