53 year old Attorney Rodwell Williams was shot a week ago and today police charged the two men who they believe are responsible. They are 27 year old Ricky Valencia and 18 year old Akeem Thurton. They were taken to Magistrate's Court #1 where they were arraigned on charges of attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. No plea was taken and they were remanded until August 31st.
Investigators believe the pair was hired to kill Williams. For what, and by whom? Well, at this time investigators cannot say who gave the order. We do know that Williams was aware of a threat coming from a business owner he'd won a case against. The threat was perceived to have escalated when enforcement of the judgment included confiscating some of that person's property. Williams had secured the judgment - reportedly a property dispute - on behalf of a client. At this point - reports say that police do have evidence which puts at least one of the accused at the scene of the crime - but no evidence as to who may have hired them to do it.
