Thieving Police
posted (June 7, 2010)
It's not quite the police crime ring but two police officers were today charged for theft. They are 39 year old Leonardo Yama and 26 year old Frederick Frazer. They were charged jointly with theft and handling stolen goods - specifically a Briggs Stratton generator. Yama was also charged with extortion of 600 dollars. They pleaded not guilty. They were released on bail of $2,500 dollars each with the case adjourned to July 27th.

On May 21, the police searched Rene Rodriguez's home and confiscated the generator on the pretext that it was stolen. They then connected with a go-between, a person that would be called a fence - namely Richard Gardiner who allegedly paid them 1,200 dollars for the generator. Gardiner then sold it to businessman Nigel Matus who paid $1,800 dollars for it. The case started to be exposed after the cops searched Rodriguez's house and took the generator. He went to the police station inquiring about it and when it turned out that no generator had come in, Rodriguez made a report to the Internal Affairs Department. Police found out that the police stashed it in a bushy area on the Western Highway.
