Another Downtown Robbery

Fashion Paradise Store in downtown Belize City was held up by two armed robbers this afternoon. The brazen afternoon robbery accord around 3;15 this afternoon at 63 Albert Street - two buildings down from our studio. Two men who were not wearing masks strode in and held up the two attendants. Each of them had a gun, and asking to appear off camera, Alice Humes and Amanda McKoy told 7 News what happened.

"I was sitting on the chair when two young men came in, they ask for shirt and pants, I got up and one of them walked ahead of me and while I was walking behind him he turn around sudden and hold me and point the gun and tell me that this is a hold-up. He put the gun to my left side that when I saw a silver and black gun. He ask me, 'Where is the key for the cash register?' I told him that I don't have any key. He looked at her and told me to call her for her to open the draw for the money, she told him that she didn't have any key for the cash register. He told me to tell my boss to don't look at him, he also told me to don't look at him. I don't know if the other one had any gun because I wasn't looking."

"Well after Ms. Humes call me inside I went inside and the guy came and he hook me by my arm and he took me to the back where the register was. He was pulling me, I didn't get a glimpse of his face, he said not to look up, so kept my head down. I went around and open the cash register the way I could and then he took out all the cash from the register, he asked me where is the rest of the money. I said I don't have any more money that's all the money I have. He said the 'f' word to every time he said something. So he searched all the draws and emptied out everything and as she said he walk to the back to see the other young man where he was and then came back calmly and walk out through the door. We had another young lady that works upstairs, she was standing here. But with a gun on us we can't say or do anything, she had no idea what was happening to us inside."

This has been the second armed robbery in 9 months at for Fashion Paradise Store. According to the owners of the store the robbers left off with about 300 dollars in cash. It is also reported to be the third robbery of a downtown Indian store in the last week.
