Left Bloodshot and Black And Blue by Bullying Cops
posted (June 8, 2010)
Police Brutality, it's nothing new on this newscast, in fact just last night we told you about a high profile case involving drummer Joshua Arana. But outrage has hit a new high tonight as a police officer is accused of beating a woman whose face was left black and blue, and her eyes, bloodshot.

24 year old Lattania Choc appeared in court today alongside her common law husband Delvith Retreage and her sister Selina Tulcey, All three are being severally charged after what the police are calling "an altercation" with them. Police responded to a report of a dispute with a neighbor but when they arrived it turned into something else completely. In the end, a baby was being manhandled and that's when the mother stepped in.

Lattania Choc
"One officer probably thought I was going to start something, he grabbed me from behind. A male, dark skinned officer grabbed me from behind. I said, 'Let go my hand sir.' I said, 'Please officer let go my hand so I can go and get my baby.' Those were my exact words, because I saw my baby's head going all over, and I could see these officers didn't care about my baby any at all. So while he had my hand, we had a struggle. I mean, come on, it's my baby you understand. So meanwhile he had my hands held, I assume my fingernails probably dug him or something, and out of the blue I just felt a blow. Like, my face just had blood running down. I got so frightened and shocked; I threw myself on the officer. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe it."

"I went there and my sister went into the Ladyville Police Station to ask for the officers' name. In less than 1or 2 minutes, an officer came and knocked on the window - because I was in the vehicle - and said, 'We have a warrant for you.' I said, 'Warrant for what? I'm the one that's victimized, how will you have a warrant for me?' He said, 'Yes you little *beep* we have a warrant for you, let's go let's go, take them.' Even my sister got it, and then they said 'We will charge them.' "

Dickie Bradley, Attorney
"This is really, in the face of what the Prime Minister is trying to restore the country, how will the citizens be feeling like this? She's just asking if somebody can give her a copy of her medical report, and to be dragged into the police station and kept overnight and her sister Selena, who didn't do anybody anything. She's trying to protect her child, not fight with a police officer. She's trying to get her baby out of the way since the police have a problem with her boyfriend. My goodness man."

Lattania Choc
"Thinking about it, it hurts you know. Thinking about it and when I saw my baby, going all over the place. I mean, gosh, these people didn't care at all. You know while they were pushing him in the vehicle, they even pushed my baby. My baby isn't a big, fat - she's a two year old, a pretty two year old. After when my brother went to go get her, she was so terrified, not even me she wanted, because when she saw my face she didn't want to come to me, and that hurt so much. I kissed her and told her, 'Don't worry mommy loves you, don't worry what they do.' This thing lasted a good 20 minutes to a half hour, could you believe that? All over a land issue, which they could have solved better. Someone, who cares and knows the legal rights, we should form a group, whereby when anything like this happens we can get some justice. Instead of going on the media, showing our face, explain what happened, and nothing coming out of it."

The 11 charges against Choc include assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, damage to property, using threatening words, while the 9 charges against Tulcey include escape from lawful custody, damage to property, and obstruction. Retreage is still in police custody, and will be brought back to court tomorrow facing an additional 3 charges. They are set to return to court on July 16th, with attorney Dickie Bradley, who says that they will be suing the police department.
