Home Invader With a Machete Scares Brit Soldier

Thirty year old Anthony Garbutt, a technician at Belize Cable Vision who allegedly entered the house of 24 year old British soldier Curl Thomas with a machete, was charged with aggravated burglary when he appeared today in the #2 Magistrate's Court.

Garbutt pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Sharon Fraser offered him bail of Six Thousand dollars which he met, and adjourned his case until July 1st.

The incident occurred around 7:15 yesterday morning. Thomas, who resides at 45 Vernon Street, reported to the police that he was at home sleeping with his girlfriend when he was awakened by a banging on his door. He said when he looked, he saw Garbutt, who was armed with a machete forcing open the door and then entering. Thomas said Garbutt accused his girlfriend of stealing and then proceeded to search a carry-on bag, and then left.
