A Treasure Chest Full Of Laughs
posted (June 11, 2010)
Haven't got any plans for this weekend? Well today we found out about "Treasure", a new play set to premiere this weekend and bound to tickle your funny bone. We caught up with the director slash writer and a couple actors as they told us about the production.

Joey Clarke
"It's based on a play which was based on a play. It's one of these ancient stories about a mean, rich, old man who buries his treasure in his yard, but over the course of a day he finds out that there are actually things he values more than money. He's trying to marry off his son and daughter, he's trying to manipulate everybody's lives, but of course everybody has their own plans so that's where the intrigue and the excitement set in. It's a family show; it should be able to entertain anybody from 8 to 800. It's a play that shows us to us; it shows the guy that you know down the street, the guy that you talk to over the fence. Its people that you know, a little exaggerated for comic effect, but it's always good to see our own culture being expressed live on stage, in front of a living audience. Beyond anything else, it's just funny, it's hilarious."

Clive Myers
"It's a life changing experience. For me, it's the first theatrical piece. Regardless of the pros and cons and everything- the time consumption and the late hours you put in there is always that love and that energy and that enthusiasm and charisma you get from doing something you passionately like."

Jamie Yearwood
"It's a funny play, you have to have to come- granny, grampa, you have to come and laugh off your gum. Everybody you have to come, it's been a while since we've had a big theatre production, so bringing this production on this weekend kind of invite you, entice you to come out to get back the appreciation for theatre."

The play is set to premiere tomorrow night at 8pm at the Bliss with an encore on Sunday at 8. ..
