Hotel Owner Didn’t Renew Gun License

Well-known hotelier Tommy Shaw the co-owner of Hotel Mopan is in jail tonight on remand. Shaw was charged with two counts of keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Police searched his home in Belama Phase two on Saturday and found one 12 gauge shotgun, one 22 revolver, 167 live rounds for the 22 and 30 cartridges for the 12 gauge.

He pleaded not guilty but magistrate Sharon Fraser explained that the court cannot offer him bail because of the nature of the offence. He was remanded to prison until July 21st.

The firearms had previously been licensed but those licenses expired in September of 2009...
