“Drive” Flowers Re-arrested; His Mom Says It’s An Abuse
posted (June 21, 2010)
On last week Tuesday's newscast we told you about five men who were freed of charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the killing of 21 year old Randy Coye who was killed in the Lord's Ridge Cemetery in October of 2009.

They got off because the prosecution could not present a complete case file.

But their freedom was short lived. Within 48 hours of being arrested a number of them were back in police custody, set to be charged again.

Today all 5 were back in court. They are 27 year old Edwin Drive Flowers, 20 year old Kenroy Humes, 21 year old Leon Gray, 23 year old Deshawn Mena and 23 year old Brandon Smith.

They were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Flowers alone were charged with abetment to murder. Today his mother Muriel Jones came to our office to say that her son will now be remanded for another 8 or 9 months and having seen the disclosure, she says the DPP knows there's not much to go on:....

Muriel Jones, Mother of the Accused
"We have half of the disclosure, these young men are in jail for nearly 8 months and they only come up with half of the disclosure. Nothing in the disclosure makes any sense."

Jules Vasquez
"What you think of this statement?"

Muriel Jones
"I think he did it and I think in a disclosure he played out the whole murder. You understand where I am coming from Jules. You are a reporter that's why I brought it for you to see it."

Jules Vasquez
"We all know how we feel about our children. We feel that our children can't do any wrong."

Muriel Jones
"Jules, it doesn't matter how bad your children bad they are still your children but murder (nodded head) no Jules. I haven't seen it in Edwin yet. I don't care what anybody says Jules. Edwin doesn't go anywhere. Edwin would stay inside either to play TV or his games and that it. Sleep, wake, and eat, because I am afraid for him to go anywhere Jules. I don't care if he doesn't gets any jobs, I will help him. I know if he goes out there to get a job, they will find him and shoot him."

Jules Vasquez
"But at the same time they will not shoot him for nothing."

Muriel Jones
"I don't know what the problem is and I don't want to know Jules. They say what you don't know doesn't hurt, but it is when you know. I bury 3 children Jules, 3 and I didn't get crazy but this trip I will Jules. What to do Jules? I don't anybody to turn to. We go to Mr. Valdez, we get block, we can't go to the DPP, and who else can we turn to Jules. So that's means our son will just rot in jail to please their fantasy or who so ever is letting it go Jules. Come on Jules, How many times have you put Edwin on TV where he is walking out of court? No case file. "

The young man who provided the caution statement claims to have witnessed the murder and interacted with the group but he was never charged....
