One Charged For Armed Robbery

Nineteen year old Emmerson Shyers, one of two persons who the police believe were involved in a robbery, was charged with aggravated assault and robbery when he appeared today in Magistrate Court.

Shyers pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because the offences were committed with a firearm.

She remanded him into custody until September 23.

The incident occurred around 11 o'clock A.M on June 14th. Twenty seven year old Allison Garoy reported to the police that he was at a garage on Caesar Ridge Road when two persons armed with firearms entered.

Garoy said one of the gunmen pistol whipped 49 year old Moses Hernandez while the other robbed him of his 14K Gold Chain, his 14K gold bracelet, 14K gold ring , one hundred and fifty dollars and his cap. The total value of the stolen items including the money was two thousand, two hundred and seventy dollars. The second suspect is still at large.
