Mass Job Loss
posted (July 27, 2010)
A reported forty employees were turned back from work today, when the recently opened telemarketing firm, Clear Call Center suspended their operations indefinitely in Belize. The business located on Pickstock Street on the second floor of the old DFC building, is an Outbound calling center specializing in telemarketing sales to mostly American households. Manager of the center, Kathy Esquivel, daughter of former Prime Minister, Manuel Esquivel, told Seven News in a telephone interview, that the firm was forced to suspend its operations after unresolved issues with its partners in the United States. Esquivel says the sudden closing was unforeseen and as a result, the company was not able to provide its mostly hourly employees with sufficient notice. She says as soon as the internal issues can be worked out, the business plans on reopening its doors.
