posted (September 9, 2010)
And after the weekend is finished, the partying continues, it is September, after all… There is a free Peace Concert Series which will start on Monday September 13th and runs through to Wednesday September 15th.

It takes the place of the Belikin Festival which apparently is not playing at the memorial park this year. Producers and promoters of the concert say that its aim is to send a positive message and for people to have good clean fun:

Organizer
"Ok what we are trying to achieve out of this concert is having the guys in the streets who are shooting and doing all the robbery and all that to come out and see how much they are hurting the Belizean public and to see if we can do something positive to try to curve this type crime happening in the street today."

Organizer
"Well we have the players band who is Base Castillo and his crew. we have other artist such as DJs, Dara Cyber Hometheatre, we have Stone Jam, we have Mad Rocker sounds those are just a few."

Organizer
"What we like to do is encourage vendors that are out there. We would like to encourage you come out there to sell food. You can contact us; we are hoping to have enough vendors because we are hoping to have a crowd, a Belizean crowd. We like to tell the Belizean public that this is something that when you get out there with your family it's also showing solidarity it's not just coming out there to enjoy the music. It's also something to show solidarity to the cause that's for peace in Belize City."

The concert, which starts at 7pm will end at midnight at the Memorial Park .If Belizean artists would like to be a part of the Peace Concert you can call Whitfield Welch at 650-7823 or Steven Card at 662-4785 or 610-2887.
