Roaring Creek Man Killed In Teakettle
posted (September 13, 2010)
And before Sunday's killing spree in the city - there was a murder in Teakettle on Friday the Tenth. The victim is Lindon Mangar, the 32 year old younger brother of the once notorious Winsworth Mangar. But while Winsworth went down in a blaze of outlaw glory, the mystery of who killed Lindon Mangar may have more to do with jealousy than it does outlaw behavior.

Andrea Polanco went west looking for answers:….

Andrea Polanco, Reporting
Quiet, easy going, nice and friendly is how Sonny's family describes him and so the last thing they expected to hear was that he would be found dead less than 24 hours after they spoke with him.

Andrea Polanco
"When was the last time you spoke to Lyndon Mangar?"

Clara Michael: Common-Law Wife
"This same Thursday the 9th of September about a quarter to 3 was the last time that I saw him."

Andrea Polanco
"Did he say anything as to where he was going or if he was going to talk to somebody or meet somebody?"

Clara Michael: Common-Law Wife
"He was coming up this side to see his mother and he told me that he would go and visit his father in Teakettle."

Andrea Polanco
"So when he left from here in Roaring Creek he went to Teakettle?"

Clara Michael: Common-Law Wife
"Well I believe so because I was at work. He was down this side. That was the intention, his plans to go to Teakettle afterwards."

Andrea Polanco
"Did anybody threaten him?"

Clara Michael: Common-Law Wife
"No, he didn't have any problems. Sonny - that is how we call him - used to always be at home. The only time he would come out is to go and look for his kids, but he would normally stay at home. He always use to chop the yard and play the dogs and stuff like that, he never goes anywhere. He doesn't drink nor smoke, he don't have company because he don't like problems."

Some family members believe that his death was actually a set up, but according to Clement Mangar, Sonny's older brother, all they know was the little that Sonny told them before he was killed:

Clement Mangar: Older Brother
"Well according to the information from my mother I understand that he left Roaring Creek sometime in the evening saying that he wants to go and see his little daughter. His wife was texting him to go and see her in the evening that same Thursday."

His family said Sonny was no troublemaker and so when they received the news that his body was found they were surprised and can't begin to think why he was murdered:

Clara Michael: Common-Law Wife
"Shock, just wonder how he winds up dead there. Still question the reason as to why because I don't know the answers as to why. I am still wondering why they kill him. We still don't get any answers as to why that happen."

Two people who were familiar with Mangar were initially detained but were released without being charged.
