Church Burglarized
posted (September 22, 2010)
Over the past weeks the heat has been unbearable for many Belizeans - and it seems it was even that way for a set of thieves who broke into Wesley Methodist Church and stole all their fans from off the church's wall. And even though it is considered the House of God - it is not the first break-in the church has experienced over the years. In fact the most recent was 2 months ago when their communion wine was stolen. Rev'd David Gough told us more:

Rev'd David Gough
"Well I believe the force entry occurred sometime between Monday night and this morning Wednesday morning because of the holiday yesterday the church was not in use and so when the caretaker of the church came this morning for prayer meeting at 6 o' clock that when he discovered that the church had been broken into and they have taken all the fans off the walls all around the church and you know Wesley is a very large church and they must have had quite some time and perhaps some help probably more than one and they took every fan except one fan that they left on the wall near the choir. This includes the 2 new fans that we recently acquired for use in the chancery where the minister sits. Along with that they also took the covering for the public address system. It's really a terrible act."

Monica Bodden
"Where did the culprits made entry?"

Rev'd David Gough
"We are not certain we suspect it was thru a window that has been broken and the exit was thru one of the doors. It's obvious they had time to do what they had to do and make good their get away with the items."

Monica Bodden
"Reverend I know that you hear the increase of crime daily on the news but when its actually targeting the church, I mean what point you think we are as a society."

Rev'd David Gough
"Well I am quite concern Monica. I think it shows we have sunk into a very low level. It's bad enough to break enough to break into anybody's' property but when you are going to sink to the level where you are breaking into the church the house of God then I think they have really sink to a low level."

It is believed that the culprits escaped through the back door of the church. A total of 7 fans were stolen. If you have any information on the stolen fans you can contact the Police Department of the Church.
