Today The Belize Medical Associates NHI South Side Clinic was the target of a robber. Sometime after two this afternoon a man approached the security guard of the clinic and wrested away his .38 revolver. The robbery happened in plain view of the terrified patients.
But police were in the area and a special patrol unit and personnel of Operation Jaguar pursued him and caught him in the Chapel lane area - which is between Dean and South streets.
The unidentified man was said to have put the gun in his hat and thrown over the fence in the yard where he was found. Police later retrieved the weapon from the area. Our team was on the scene Police arrested the man and took him away in a police vehicle.
We weren't able to get word from Medical Associates because they said they weren't prepared to put their clients at risk because there were patients inside who witnessed the incident.
