Developer’s Plans For Billy Barquedier Park
posted (October 21, 2010)
Last night we told you how Steadfast villagers stopped NEAC from going into the Billy Barquedier National Park for a site inspection.

Representatives of STCE - the Steadfast Tourism and Conservation Association said they're opposed to the purpose for that site visit because they have been disregarded as co-managers for the park and no proper dialogue has taken place. STACA said that the issue arose because the environmental impact assessment conducted by New River Enterprise proposed a road restoration and upgrade project that is expected to witness the movement of fifty truckloads of logs per month for three months through the park and watershed.

STACA told us that this project isn't only expected to damage their water system and the national park but can have long term effects on some areas in the south.

Today we spoke with Mr. Joseph Loskot of New River Enterpise via telephone and he told us that at this time he isn't able to give us an interview as he is yet to meet with Mr. Pepe Garcia and his company who prepared the Environmental Impact Assessment.

Mr. Loskot says that after this meeting where he will be able to discuss the findings of the EIA, he will be able to happy to speak with us and clear up any misinformation. He also went on to point out that New River Enterprise's long term sustainable management plan seeks how best to do what the company has been doing for the past twenty years.
