Telemedia: Dividends Up

Telemedia had its fourth annual general meeting last night at the Princess Hotel in Belize City. The company approved a resolution to pay out dividends of 23 cents per share - up from 19 cents last year. More importantly, the dividend is equivalent to 50% of the company's profits of 22.6 million dollars on revenue of 145.6 million dollars. 95% of that dividend, almost 11 million dollars will go holder of the supermajority of shares.

"We expanded and improve our networks and infrastructure. We have improve our customer services countrywide and we have won back over 20,000 customers. We did this by preserving the core value of the company. In the year under review we also re-affirm our commitment to bridge the digital divide by expanding our coverage and providing telecommunication service to the distant rural areas that had never before been privy to telecommunication services or the use of information and communication technology."

After the annual general meeting concluded the company held an extraordinary annual general meeting which passed a special resolution to adopt a new set of Articles of Association.

Those articles will be adopted at another special AGM to be held on December 17trh at the BES auditorium..
