3.2 million dollars for the third payment to cane farmers was transferred form the government to BSI today - and that payment will be made to farmers tomorrow - four weeks after it was due.
And now BSI is the one waiting for the remaining 6.8 million dollars from government and the additional 10 million dollar sin pre-0fiancning from their trading partner Tate and Lyle.
With all this it remains very doubtful that the industry will be able to start the next sugar harvest as scheduled on December 13th. But no new date has been assigned at this time - in the hope that all sides will push for the season to start as early as possible.
