Escapee Recaptured Quickly

Thirty-nine year old Adan Meza of San Antonio, Corozal is safely behind bars tonight after escaping from the Belize Central prison yesterday.

Meza, escaped yesterday morning around nine-thirty while he was working in the farm area when he managed to sneak away. Some ten minutes later, authorities realized he was missing. Immediately the Prison Authorities and the Police set up check points in Burrell Boom and Hattieville yesterday and around ten this morning he was recaptured near the Boom Bridge. Meza, also known as Alejandro, was serving a five year sentence after he was convicted of robbery in October 2008 and would have been eligible for parole in March of this year.
