Remanded For Allegedly Waving Gun At Neighbor
posted (February 18, 2011)
Twenty five year old Leon Yorke, a Belize city laborer, accused of waving a firearm at his neighbor, was charged with aggravated assault when he appeared today in the #2 Magistrate's court.

Yorke pleaded not guilty to the charge. He admitted that he had an altercation with his neighbor, Nigel West, but denied he used a firearm.

Still, Yorke was remanded into custody because it is a firearm offence.

The incident occurred around 8:30 on Sunday night. West reported to the police that he was standing on the side of the street in front of his house when he was approached by Yorke and another man. West said the other man pointed a pistol to his chest while Yorke fought with him. The second suspect is still at large.
