Guatemala/Belize Foreign Ministers Meet

Guatemala's Foreign Minister Haroldo Rodas flew into Belzie today for a meeting with his Belizean counterpart Wilfred Elrington.

The meeting was held at the foreign affairs office in the city which is in the Whitley Tower on Coney drive and focused primarily on the regional security strategy for central America.

Guatemala took over the presidency of SICA form Belize, and has been pushing forward with the initiative building towards a regional security conference.

Central America is designing its security initiative with a view to mitigating some of the effects of Mexico's drug war, which has caused the Central American isthmus to be named the most dangerous region in the world.

Other issues including transport difficulties at the Benque Viejo border and illegal logging were also discussed.
