Citco’s Feast OF Self-Congratulation End With A Bandstand
posted (March 4, 2011)
Unless you've been sleeping under a rock somewhere you'll know that this week, the Belize City Council is commemorating its fifth anniversary.

Mercifully, the feast of self-congratulation ended today with the inauguration of a new bandstand at the BTL Park. It is called "the Pavilion" and we found out what makes it special.:…

Zenaida Moya-Flowers, Mayor of Belize City
"It's now been called "The Pavillion" that's the name of the band stand, it's very special to us, not only is it a very nice state of the art band stand. It has the design and features built-in and design by engineers to ensure that we will have the best quality sounds coming out. We here at the council really want to continue to promote cultural events in particular, we have a lot of areas whereby we need to improve on and I think people need to know who they are. And a lot of time people don't appreciate their own culture and I think this particular band stand "The Pavillion" will assist the council to ensure that we put forward our culture. We are a very diverse- multi-cultural city and country and so this particular pavillion and its opening should push forward and promote a lot events and really assist artists when they want to have professional events. They don't have to think about trying to get stages, try to set up lights, try to hope that it don't rain to wet their equipment - now they will be able to really have a proper band stand to assist them."

The bandstand like its sister installation at the Battlefield Park was sponsored by Hans Bhojwani.
