Accident Claims One; Driver Charged For Alcohol Level Above Prescribed Limit

A traffic accident over the weekend has claimed the life of 29 year old Robert Burgess- a security guard of Ladyville - and son of well-known attorney Lionel Welch. It happened on Saturday morning around 4 o'clock.

Burgess was travelling in a Gold Geo Prizm, along with the driver of the vehicle 31 year old Rudel Castro and 3 other passengers, 24 year old Sochel Sosa, 37 year old Sebastian Nunez and Nicole Middleton.

They were heading to Ladyville but between miles 7 and 8 on the northern highway, the vehicle experienced a blowout - causing them to overturn several times. Burgess who was seated on the left passenger side died on the spot. Sochel Sosa received injuries to her head and body and was admitted to the KHMH - while Sebastian Nunez complained of pain to his neck. According to police, Nicole Middleton left the scene before they arrived. Police believe alcohol may have been a factor.

Today in court, 31 year old Rodel Castro was charged with manslaughter by negligence and causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention and driving under the influence of alcohol. No plea was taken and he was released on bail of five thousand dollars…
