Nineteen year old Steven Dean Weber, an American student from San Diego who came to Belize City yesterday on a cruise ship, was charged with possession of 1.6 ( one point six) grams of cannabis when he appeared today in Magistrate's Court.

Weber pleaded guilty to the charge. Because he had no previous conviction and he saved the court's time by pleading guilty, Magistrate Roberto Ordonez fined him $250 and ordered him to pay forthwith, in default 3 months imprisonment. Weber paid the fine and he was released.

Weber was busted around 3:55 pm yesterday. The police reported that they were on an operation in the Tourist Village yesterday when they saw Weber and decided to search him.
