Joe Coye, Not Sour Grapes, But Grapes Of Wrath
posted (April 14, 2011)
Joe Coye has been soundly beaten in two successive elections: first the general election of 2008 where he was beaten by over a thousand votes, and then in the PUP Standard Bearer Convention last Sunday when he was beaten by a margin of more than two to one.

With that, you might think Coye would be content to slide into the background, but the always demonstrative public figure today issued a fiery release, calling out former friends, newfound foes, and raging against money politics. The statement is grandly titled, "The Irony Of Democracy" and speaks about the conduct of his opponent, at Sunday's convention.

Coye states that what he found "most reprehensible" is, quote, "a line of attack made against my family and I in the homes of voters and on the day of the convention - the vilification and acrimony hurled at me and my supporters by the blue sea of a paid mob."

He continues, "In one of the camps of one of the candidates I saw the faces of those in the upper hierarchy of the party. I saw them in numbers from Fort George and Pickstock. I saw both members and surrogates of the G-7 and those who were opposed to it now lining up against me."

Coye's statement goes unto speak about, quote, a "display of seductive wealth" by his opponent, and an abundance of blue notes that were flooding the homes and streets - all to defeat …one of their own." Coye ends by asking, "who paid for all this and why?" and laments that the masses elect the leaders but the elites choose who will be leaders.
