Twenty seven year old businessman Bert Vasquez, who allegedly held up a 16 year old girl at gunpoint, was charged with aggravated assault when he appeared today in the #5 Magistrate's Court. Vasquez pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Albert Hoare explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because the offense was committed with a firearm. He remanded Vasquez into custody until June 27.
The incident allegedly occurred around 8:05 on the night of Friday May 13th. The girl reported to the police that she was at Pound Yard Bridge waiting for the bus to take her to Ladyville when she saw a four door car with tinted glass pull up. She said a man got out of the car with what appeared to be a .38 pistol in his hand and put it to her side and told her to get in the car.
She said she feared for her life so she complied and the man drove her to Vista del Mar. She said that man put the gun to her head and pulled the trigger but the gun misfired.
She said she got out of the car and ran and hollered for help.
