Cycle Accident On Maskall Road claims One Life

There were two fatal accidents this weekend, which claimed the lives of two men. We start on the old Northern Highway in Maskall where a fatal collision between two motorcycles claimed the life of a 33 year old farmer.

It happened at mile 37 on the Old Northern Highway in the village of St Ann. 33 year old Luis Zetina was riding his Motorcycle from Maskall Village -heading towards Corozalito - when reaching mile 37 he collided head on into a yellow and black motorcycle driven by 20 year old Winston Dawson. Zetina received severe head and body injuries and died on the spot while Dawson received a broken right arm and right foot. He was transported to the KHMH where he is listed in a stable condition. Villagers told 7news that one of the men was intoxicated and was speeding.

"When my sister-in-law told me that my husband had died I was shock and I couldn't believe it."

"Did you get a chance to go on the scene?"

"Yes I did."

"When you went out there what did you see?"

"I saw him there on the ground and I started to cry 'why did you leave me'."

"He was already dead?"

Roselda Tzib, Commom-law-wife
"Yes at this time he was already dead."

"When you got on the scene what was it like yesterday evening?"

"It was sad because when I get out here you see the crowd and when I look I saw the body on the ground. I didn't see the one that got hurt because they already took him away. But the site of the dead person was awful, it was shocking."

"Mr. Zetina's body was found where?"

"A little way from here in the bushes over there."

Monica Bodden
"And the motorcycle?"

Daisey Flowers, Chairperson - St. Ann's Village
"That was like 30 plus feet away from him."

Monica Bodden
"He was already dead on the spot?"

Daisey Flowers, Chairperson - St. Ann's Village
"On the spot yes."

Monica Bodden
"You understand if the two gentlemen was speeding?"

Daisey Flowers, Chairperson - St. Ann's Village
"I don't know if they were speeding but we understand that one was drunk and the other was going to a game, but I don't know if they were speeding and how the accident happens."

"Word is that Mr. Zetina who passed away was intoxicated."

"Yes he was intoxicated."

"And Mr. Dawson? he was on his way to a game?"

"To a game in Maskall."

Luis Zetina was the father of 5 young children. He was also a farmer and the sole bread winner for his family.
