It's different for the teachers at technical schools whose training is about competency based education and quality assurance in technical education. But if that sound a little too abstract, one of the participants brought it right down to earth; he says it cane be as simple as acting like a role model:

"The training has taught us a lot about being role models. As educators, we need to be role models. And that has impacted me tremendously, because I think that in Belize, we need to look up to more role models in the Education System. And we as teachers have to learn to do things differently. Once you take up the post of becoming a teacher, or becoming an educator, then your way of behaving has to be different, because you have to inspire students. You have to motivate them so that then they can learn from you."

Dorothy Eck - Entrepreneurship Teacher, ITVET
"We need to work with stake-holders, as a TVET institution. We need to go out there and see what are the needs of - what our economic needs in terms labor needs? And so, the only way to find that out is there and check with employers. What do you need? Do you need more plumbers? Do you need more electricians? Where do you need training? Because we need to begin to provide qualified vocational and technical people in our society."

"I think that with that we really hold our institutions accountable because now they know what all the need to take into consideration; particularly, they need to realize that it is something of ownership. It is them that have to take the lead in taking their institution to the highest level."
