CITCO Plans Tenth Activity
posted (September 9, 2011)
Tomorrow is the tenth - and while there's history and officialdom to pay homage to, it's also a holiday and a time for merriment.

And to celebrate this year's Tenth, the city is holding its annual Municipal Fest at the MCC Grounds.

City Councillor, Dion Leslie says, the event is set to be bigger and badder!

Dion Leslie - City Councilor
"This year we have made it bigger and better being that's 30 years of independence that the country is celebrating. And we always have the normal line up of local Belizean artists: Kenny Gladden and the New Creation Band, Titiman Flores, Ernestine Carballo, the Youth Connection, Kenny Morgan will be performing of course. We have Blue Steel and Alfrain Supal, Mr. Hype, on the ones and twos, and of course Ernesto Babb, and Mr. Tony Right will be under the food court. But the highlight for this event, we brought all the way from LA. We have Pupa Curly performing, an old-school Belizean artist. Many people remember him for a famous song, "Crack is a Killer", and of course the biggest thing right now in the Country, Lovaboy. So we just want to show people, we have them here. They'll be performing tomorrow at the MCC Grounds for the 6th annual Belize City Council Multicultural Fair."

Jim McFadzean
"Looks like you don't want to go back, because you've been around for a while now."

Lovaboy - Performer
"Well, I would rather stay home. I just want to say that's a pleasure and an honor to be invited to be part of such an event, and to work with one of the legends in the game - if you don't know, you need to ask about it. So I just want to invite everybody to come out and enjoy, yes."

Jim McFadzean
"Pupa Curly, well yeah, the name of course rings a bell for all Belizeans, and you haven't performed since when, back home?"

Pupa Curly - Performer
"Well, I think it's longer than I could really remember, to be quite honest. So it will definitely be a pleasure performing out there, back by the infamous Youth Connection Band. So make sure that you come out to MCC Grounds tomorrow, especially the youths, come out out because we have a special message for you all. It's unity time; we have to get together and make this thing right in Belize. So come on out."

The show gets underway at 11 in the morning!
