Home Invader Jailed

Thirty three year old Wilton Usher, charged with firearm and ammunition offences and handling stolen goods, was found guilty of all charges today in the Magistrate's Court.

Usher was sentenced to 2 years for each count. Magistrate Emmerson Banner, stipulated that the sentences for firearm and ammunition should run concurrently and consecutively to the sentence for handling stolen goods. Therefore, Usher will serve 4 years. The charge of handling stolen goods was in connection with the home invasion at the residence of Judith Williamson, located in the Lake Garden Area of Ladyville, which occurred on January 22, 2010.

Williamson reported to police that while she and her family were at home three men with handkerchiefs over their faces entered, one of them armed with a firearm, and they stole jewelry, electronic items and cash. Shortly after the incident the police apprehended Usher at the junction of the Northern Highway and Lord's Band Road. Usher had a .25automatic pistol with one live round and some of the items that were stolen from Williamson. Usher testified and denied having any knowledge of the aggravated burglary.
